Watch Georgina, Masrur, and the first cohort of Emerging Peacemakers talk about their experience while at the programme in 2019:

What's it all about?

At the Emerging Peacemakers Programme, we will learn more about our own faiths and others. We will explore how we can work as reconcilers and peacemakers to cross divides in our communities.

Together with those of other faiths we will build strong, authentic friendships based on mutual understanding, acceptance and curiosity. We will develop our own opinions, whilst learning how to be more open of others. Throughout the week we will develop the skills to become leaders in our communities, whether at school, in our faith congregations, our neighbourhoods, or elsewhere. We will work through a mix of activities, including prayer, workshops, home groups, outdoor activities, and evening entertainment.

Before leaving the programme, we will develop an action plan to carry out when we get home, so that we can put all our new learning into practice. You will be supported throughout the week by an inter-faith pastoral team, who are there to look after your needs during the programme. You will also be assigned to a ‘home group’ who will act as your family throughout the week. We’ll all be working hard to ensure you feel supported and cared for throughout the programme!

Where is it going to be?

Next year we are excited to be back at Patterdale Hall on Lake Ullswater, a specially
designed youth-hostel with access to a range of outdoor activities, and incredible
views of the surrounding mountains!

The venue has plenty of common room areas for you to enjoy free time with new
friends, and plenty of workshop space. You’ll sleep in comfy bunk beds in cosy dorm
rooms; girls and boys will be in separate accommodation wings.

All meals are provided onsite by the wonderful catering team, and all dietary
requirements including kosher and halal food will be provided.
